ABOUT ME

Thank you for stopping by. I’m so glad you’re here.

My name is Vicki Prais and I am a human rights lawyer, independent human rights consultant, academic and human rights career coach. I like to call myself a ‘lawyer plus’!

London is home but the world is my workplace.

I work with International Organisations, academic institutions, non-governmental organisations and governments to research and document human rights violations, design and deliver human rights training and to lobby and advocate on human rights issues.

For 28 years, I have been actively engaged in human rights and have a long and varied track record. My professional experience extends to International Organisations (the UN, Council of Europe, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe), the British Government (UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office), non-governmental organisations (Amnesty International, Penal Reform International), National Human Rights Institutions (Scottish Human Rights Commission) and academia (McGill University, Canada; Surrey University, England.)

We are all experts in our own little niches“.

I care deeply about prisoners’ rights, prison reform and dignity behind bars. My passion for this work started when I volunteered at a prison creche as a student and that experience resonates with me to this day. I continue to build my expertise in this area and have gained a wealth of knowledge in penal related issues through practical visits to different closed institutions in Japan, Georgia, Canada, Spain and the UK.

As a detention specialist, I have a very strong understanding of international human rights standards in this area and the challenges faced by prison administrations in implementing these standards. I am your GO-TO expert on prisoners’ rights, dignity behind bars, prison reform and the prohibition of torture and ill-treatment.

I love helping organisations that are human rights centered and put human rights at the very heart of their policies and practices.

If you are an International Organisation, an NGO, academic institution, a government body and are looking for an internationally experienced human rights lawyer to help with your human rights project, let’s talk.

I am here to HELP YOU PUT HUMAN RIGHTS FIRST. I can’t wait to meet and support you.
